Facing the Truth

If you're like me, you check your Facebook constantly. Seeing new notifications, updating your friends on your life, showing the world your life in photography, reading articles, sending messages, making contacts and networking.

For me the online world is where my marriage began (long story and if you stay tuned I might just do a blog series on the never ending intriguing love affair story *cue the days of our lives music* ;). But Facebook is a tool to get addicted to, which in the past I have been. So, what do you do to fight the habit? Take a break.

I'm currently on a Facebook 30 Day challenge-That's right kiddies, I've deactivated for a month! So far the decision to do so has been life changing! I'm pretty much a whole new person (said with alot of humble pie).

I have had so much more time to spend working, spend with my Son and my Handsome Man! It's the time spent 'in the real world' away from being 'in the know' or being whisked off by social media and just living.
I am excited to share all the happenings in our lives with you all, and although it's only been just a little over three weeks without my F'book, I have accomplished so much!

Stay tuned-lots to come :)

Missing Home

There are those days in your life where you feel something is missing and for me that something is usually Australia.

I grew up in Australia after moving to Sydney when I was 8 years old. Originally from New Zealand, I have never really called it my home unlike Australia. Oz is the one place I come back to every time I feel this empty sad missing feeling-almost like that feeling when you're about to burst into tears but you hold them back so much that your throat starts to become sore and dry.

I miss the sand, like gold trickling through your hands as it warms up on a Summer morning at Bondi.
I miss the sound of people talking mindlessly about their weekends with friends
I miss the water, so deep and salty, full of life in waves that the surfers worship
I miss the food, so nourishing, tasteful and familiar
I miss the roar of CityRail and the angry remarks about delayed trains
I miss the skyscrapers, so delicately reaching for the sky with windows like mirrors finding reflections in the clouds

But I only miss it for a few minutes till I look upon this beautiful face:

And then, at that very moment, that second of sadness. My heart becomes warm and my sadness turns to joy.

Snap and Shoot!

I didn't really want to make this a whining blog but today I am out of action and sore. For the past couple of months I've suffered severe back pain, the disturbing thing is-I'm only 25! Of all ages, why so soon? Other than that, I've been researching the Photography Market here, how I can advance in Advertising my services and more advertising, oh and did I mention more advertising?

I stumbled upon this website while menacing in my soreness from the comfort of my giant bed pillows and crimson coloured quilt:

Oh yes, time to seek out some delicious Photography gigs!

My Top Reasons to Go Vegetarian

I thought I would share with you all, what Vegetarianism is to me. Many people ask me why I went vegetarian and my simple answer is always-I didn't think about it till one day it just happened lol! For just a little over 6 years I was vegetarian and today I'm now back on the wagon yet again. It's simply a personal choice, something that happened one day when I discovered the wide world of vegetables and changed my state of mind to suit a more healthier perspective and healthier food choice. It was a slow process but over time, you don't think so much about it and it comes to you like a 3rd eye.

#1 It wasn't so hard- For the most part it was all about reminding myself of the benefits of being vegetarian, the value you place on your body, your well being and your life.

#2 Cravings- the cravings curb to suit craving salads, craving veggie lasagna, craving everything but meat!

#3 More Energy- You'd think your energy levels would sink, with fewer calories or whathaveyou, but to be honest my Energy source was immense. Not only did I wake with the blink of an eye but I had plenty of energy throughout the day.

#4 Reduce Animal Consumption- In no way am I an animal preserver, before becoming a Vegetarian, I was  a meatosaurous! But I discovered that you simply have a greater impact on the animal world, something you should be proud of even if it's not in an activist way.

#5 Vegetarian Dishes are Delicious!- There's a whole world of yummy Veggie recipes out there, just wait to discover them! Head over to allrecipes.com to dive into our Veggie world.

I wouldn't recommend it to everyone, and I wouldn't just cut off eating meat altogether if you're new to Vegetarianism. Just take it slow, take things out of your diet one by one and see the transformation on your mind, body and soul within months.

Apartment lifestyle

If there is one thing Everett loves (besides his Mamma and Dadda ;) it would have to be his Bumbo. He drools in it, falls asleep in it, laughs in it, plays and farts in it. Everett and his Bumbo have a history, a love, a joy which only his Bumbo can obtain credit for. It's amazing how such simple things can bring a baby so much joy!

On another note, I caught my Husband skateboarding to the library! haha! So cute, I know ;) There's also a new dog on the block, well a new one according to us since we've lived in our Long Island apartment for just over a month now.

Our apartments are your typical NY apartment. Over crowded, rowdy, over-priced and yet, very 'us'. It's been over a month now that we have lived here on Long Island and I wouldn't have asked for anything else. Upon 2 weeks of moving here I was offered a position immediately at a Portrait Studio just 8 minutes drive from our apartment, just 8 mins walking time, I can go to the local grocers as well, in just 4 mins walking time I can take a spin to the library and fill my mind with incredible stories and advice. Apartment living is beautiful, but I bet it would get old after a while. For now, in this moment however- I love nothing more.

The beginning of a wonderful adventure.

The first post is always the focus. Starting a blog is a journey, an inspiration, a quest of your discoveries and also the sharing of it all. Follow our lives as we take you on a journey where we are simply taken, not directed. I woke up at 7.30 this morning to a beautiful face which usually greets me with a smile like this:

This boy always greets the world with innocence that only a baby can possess. It's a warm humid morning yet again here on Long Island. The traffic not yet at it's peak and a gentle breeze drying out the cloth diapers dangling from our clothes rack. I love the morning, it's like a daily routine once Evi wakes up. Together we read one of his favorite books, followed by one old school cartoon, he absolutely loves- Hey Arnold!

Becoming a Mother is hard work, it's dedication, and thinking outside of yourself. For a long time, my Husband has been a true companion in supporting parenthood, and of course it's always sexy to have a man who gets involved around the house ;) Onto today, we have many things happening.
