Security and Insecurity

6/365

I watch you sleep, sprawled out on the sofa like you're awaiting Christmas. Tiny lips pursed and silent to the breath as I see your chest rise and fall. You have loved your morning and afternoon naps, but today you didn't make it to your crib in time and decided the sofa was good enough. Throughout the week, Mummy heard you cry out your first word: Mooooom! To your Daddy's amazement, I think he wished it was 'Dadda' but you know how much practice we've been putting into your speech, morning and afternoons on repetition. You cry so much now, wanting to get your way at every given chance and crying every time Mum or Dad leaves the room. You are learning about two of the most important aspects in life, and they are security and insecurity.
